If you’ve ever wondered how to incorporate an arts and crafts business into your family life, you’re looking in the right place.  Children’s keepsakes are increasingly popular with parents, grandparents and as gifts for baby showers just to name a few.  Children grow so quickly and this fleeting time can be captured by taking a mold impression of feet and hands as treasured keepsakes.  The memorabilia industry is one of the fastest growing businesses and always looking for something unique and personal.

Students who have taken this class have carved out a niche business from home and are enjoying the experience of being their own boss.

Gabrielle will demonstrate and allow for practice in casting children and adult hand casting application.

Unforgettable Impressions Children’s Keepsakes & Belly Casting Sculptures / 3 Day

Home-Based Workshop:  3.0 Days – 9:30 to 5 pm each day

Our Three Day Workshop covers not just the basics as above but provides a more intense experience by working with plaster bandage to provide a shell for more complex pieces of sculpture.

Body Casting Sculptures created by using plaster bandage as a mother mold (two steps) for more sturdy casting pieces. For belly casts or family and group castings, it’s a must to take additional steps when flipping or turning these large pieces. Since additives are placed in the cavity of the mold additional support is needed.

Once you’ve taken this workshop, you will be able to offer your clients a wider array of work and gain larger financial freedom.

The beauty we capture in creating three-dimensional sculptures as wall hangings or free standing pieces has no comparison. Touch and see the detail of these precious moments in time.

We cover belly castings, children and adult hand castings including medallions, framing and display methods as well as samples to take home.

Included are two professional frames used to display your castings.

A binder filled with information on forms to use, styles, list of tools and supplies and where to purchase items.

All materials, supplies and tools included during the workshop.

Introduction Acrylic Pouring

Workshop/Class Duration:  12 pm to 3 pm.

Acrylic paints are thinned to the point where they will pour in a fluid stream, from a cup onto a canvas, tile or paper.  Terms such as “flip cup” or “dirty pour” refer to layering various color paints in a large plastic cup with additives like silicone and then pouring or flipping onto the canvas. The creation of “cells” from additives are highly desirable when working in this medium.  Proper preparation is necessary as this method can get a bit messy. But it’s pure enjoyment and childlike freedom as we work with this medium. Layering paints in a single cup would seem odd, but wait till you see the results.

Paints and materials included for class. Take your work home that evening.
